Centerpieces

The more I think about the tables, the more upset I get. I don't want them to look like a 7 year olds birthday party. But we are encouraging people to dress up if they so choose. Because what would a Pirate Wedding be without a few scoundrels and scalawags? I mean honestly!

I wanted votives with sand and little pirate-esque things in the sand around the candles. But after watching Bridezillas [terrible I know], I'm starting to dig the big pillars in hurricane type glasses. She put too much crap in the glasses in my humble opinion. But that's her choice at her Wedding.

I wanted the tables to be fun. I wanted to put plastic swords and eye patches around the place settings. I wanted terribly large shiny rings. But now I'm afraid that it might look too juvenile.

DAMN ME AND MY DESIRE FOR FUN!

We couldn't figure out the logistics, but what I really wanted to do for centerpieces was have beta fish in a bowl or wine glass on each table. We had to bring everything to the restaurant the day before and I just wasn't sure how that was going to work out so I went with standard candles.

I found a TON of stuff on the Oriental Trading Co's website. I figured that if I put things on the tables, even if people didn't come dressed up there would be something there for them.

but the more I think about it, the more it feels like a birthday party.

So I'm thinking maybe I just put a treasure chest next to the guest book or something- let people take stuff out if they want.

I like the treasure chest idea, and if you make the tables look a little beachy/nautical I think it would jive
